This page features my latest graphical works, both digital and traditional, plus links to the archive.
Part of the motivation for this illustration was to create a new avatar for some forums I visit. To give it enough impact at low resolution (around 100 pixels wide) I needed to keep the contrast high and the line art thick.
Image was hand drawn and inked, then cleaned up and coloured in Paint Shop Pro.
Rather than copying from the original image directly, I re-imagined it slightly in an attempted to add a sense of movement and energy.
The idea behind this picture was to stay as close to the Capcom character designs as possible yet placing them within a scene of my own.
Coloured using Tria Markers.
First attempt at vector art
The result of my first serious effort using Tria Markers, it was an interesting challenge having such a limited range of colours to work from. Drawn from this reference image.
Over the past year or so I seem to have took a real interest in American motorsports, the unexpected surprise in all this is NASCAR, really starting to enjoy it.
So I put together this piece of work, was initially a pencil drawing, then photographed (lack of a scanner), and started re-drawing in digital, line art was done in vector, then converted to raster so I could do some airbrush effects.
The wait for the next Phoenix Wright game is already too much, so I guess fan art is the only outlet for now.
Used watercolour pencils, but this time as intended, the water helped smooth out the larger areas of colour.
Old Snake from the TGS '05 MGS4 Trailer. Created using black biro, was fun trying to create shade and texture.
It's been a while since I've done any traditional artwork, infact, it was about a year ago at school so I wasn't too confident when I started colouring this, but I soon remembered and started to really enjoy it.
I created this using watercolour pencils, because I find them a bit softer and easier to blend than regular colouring pencils, but mainly because it's all I could find.
The picture is from a screen shot of Legend of Zelda: Twighlight Princess. There's meant to be a lamp in Link's left hand, but there wasen't room for it.
A picture of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, created using a cheap set of brush pens from a supermarket!
